LONDON -- There is more than one superstar in the extended Peaty family.

On Sunday, British swimmer Adam Peaty took gold in the 100 metre breaststroke final. He finished in a time of 57.13 seconds, which was over a second-and-a-half quicker than South Africa's Cameron van der Burgh, who came in second. Peaty set a new world record, casually beating the previous world record that he himself had set a few days before in the heat.

Meanwhile, his grandmother Mavis was absolutely killing it on Twitter.

Her Twitter fame began building in the run-up to the first heat.

Then the heat rolled round, and Adam notched up his first world record.

Mavis had the following response.

Her support continued as Adam breezed through the semis.

As the final neared, the tension grew.

Meanwhile, Mavis' own celebrity status was growing, and the hashtage #OlympicNan began to trend.

Then, at last, the final rolled round. And Adam took the gold.

As always, Mavis' emoji game was on point.

Here's a clip of her reacting to his win.

Congratulations to the whole Peaty family!
