Adele pays an emotional visit to Grenfell Tower in London after the fire

The singer paid a low-key tribute.

Many celebrities have reached out to help those affected by a massive fire at a high-rise block in Kensington, west London. And now Adele can be added to that list.

The London-born singer, who is from Tottenham, East London, made a private visit to the scene.

Photographs of the singer hugging victims and firefighters are circulating on social media:

According to @FourMee, who posted images on Twitter and Instagram, the singer appeared emotional and in tears and was joined by her husband Simon Konecki during the vigil in Kensington.

The images have been picked up by multiple news outlets. We have reached out to Adele's management to seek confirmation that it was in fact her.

Tom Maughan, 26, was at the scene and told BuzzFeed News: "She was so nice. She was with her husband, she was going round talking to people."She said, 'Is everyone okay, are the dogs okay?'"

"She stayed about 15 minutes, she tried to keep it on the low. Everyone was happy, she's Adele. She didn't have any security or anything, she just came on her own with her husband. She's got Oscars, she's got Grammys, she's friends with Beyoncé! She wasn't even hiding her face, she was in her full glory," Maughan continued.

People on social media have been moved by the humble, low-key tribute:
