Mascot saves kid from foul ball and gets paid back in the cutest way

Really filling the "dramatic and cute things" void at this softball game.

Softball games bare untold dangers at every corner — fly balls, slippery floors, uh, mostly the balls, we guess. They're concussion machines, basically.

That's why, when a foul ball was headed straight for a young boy sitting in the stands at a University of Florida softball game, it looked like disaster was on the way. That's when his guardian gator, Albert the Alligator, stepped in.

Albert, UF's mascot and one-half of the celebrity mascot couple Albert and Alberta, sacrificed his snout to protect the boy, blocking the ball from making impact by deflecting it off his nose.

The kid then returned the favor by performing CPR on the dazed gator.

For concerned fans, Albert made sure to let the world know he's recovering just fine:

Wow, so he's a hero and has a strong social media presence? Modern mascots truly can have it all.
