Alec Baldwin would like to move on from playing Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, the actor said in an interview with USA Today Thursday.

Baldwin, who has returned to SNL on a recurring basis to impersonate Trump, sounds like he's tired of playing the president and receiving constant criticism of his portrayal.

"I mean, I had a lot of fun with (the cast), and when Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider wrote (Trump sketches in 2016 and 2017), that was new, it was fresh and the ratings were good," Baldwin told USA Today. "But I feel like I'm done with that now. I'm so done with that."

Baldwin admitted that Darrell Hammond is a better impersonator than he is and said that the criticism he was receiving for his portrayal skyrocketed after Anthony Atamanuik debuted his Trump impersonation on The President Show in 2017.

"When Anthony Atamanuik (started impersonating Trump on Comedy Central's The President Show), all these people were attacking me, saying, 'Oh, your impression sucks and you suck. Please go away,'" Baldwin said.

"I'm so done with that"

He pleaded the world to find someone to replace him as the go-to Trump impersonator on SNL.

"It also was something I thought to myself: 'I really don't have a lot invested in my Trump impersonation, so please find someone and convince Lorne (Michaels) to replace me,'" Baldwin said. "I'm completely down with that. Winning the Emmy for that show aside, it was not some career goal of mine. So if (Atamanuik) wants the job, it's his. He can have it."

USA Today asked Baldwin if he thought he'd return to the show next season, to which Baldwin replied: "I can't imagine I would do it again. I just can't."

He also mentioned that he and his wife just had another child and he would like to have his weekends available to spend with his family.
