Maybe, just maybe, Alexa's new alarms can make you actually enjoy getting up in the morning.

You can finally instruct Amazon's voice assistant to wake you up in the morning with a song of your choice.

Yes, if you have a smartphone, you could do this already. But unlike the iPhone, which limits your selection to your Apple Music library, Alexa can select songs from a number of platforms: Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, TuneIn, SiriusXM, and iHeartRadio. Whichever you're loyal to, you're set.

All you have to say is "Alexa, wake me up at 8 a.m. to 'Halo' by Beyonce." Or just "Beyonce" if you'd rather be surprised.

If you're indecisive, Alexa can also use whatever criteria you provide to find the right song for you. Try "Alexa, wake me up to 80s pop music at 8 a.m." and let her do the rest of the work for you.

It can even help you find a song that's on the tip of your tongue. "Alexa, wake me up at 8 a.m. to the song that goes 'I ain't never gonna shut you out,'" will do the trick.

Both of these less specific requests only work with Amazon Music.

In the past few months, Alexa has crept into many aspects of our lives. She's moved to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, our game nights, and our offices.

It's to be expected that in her continued quest for dominance over Google Assistant, as well as Apple's Siri, Microsoft's Cortana, and Samsung's Bixby, our early morning misery would be the next step.
