Aly Raisman calls out U.S. Olympic Committee: 'It's like none of us were ever abused!'

Aly Raisman knows a hollow statement when she sees one.

The gold medalist slammed the U.S. Olympic Committee for failing to investigate claims of sexual abuse within USA Gymnastics, then "shamelessly taking credit" for the resignation of three board members.

Raisman is one of over 100 women accusing the former USA Gymnastics team physician Larry Nassar of sexual abuse. During Nassar's sentencing hearings in Michigan this week, three members of the USA Gymnastics board of directors announced their resignation.

USOC CEO Scott Blackman issued a statement on Monday, claiming that the committee had, since October, been engaged in discussions about changing the culture of USA Gymnastics.

"New board leadership is necessary because the current leaders have been focused on establishing that they did nothing wrong," said Blackman's statement.

"USA Gymnastics needs to focus on supporting the brave survivors. The Olympic family failed these athletes and we must continue to take every step necessary to ensure this never happens again."

Raisman wasn't having any of it.

The Fierce Five member called out the organization on Twitter for refusing to investigate an Aug. 4 report by The Indianapolis Star, which detailed sexual abuse within USA Gymnastics. "The USOC said they wouldn't investigate (and even praised USAG's work in the area of sexual abuse)," wrote Raisman.

"For the past week, survivors came forward to courageously face a perpetrator of evil and to share their painful stories," she continued, speaking of the 105 women giving victim statements against Nassar.

"Many of them, myself included, claim the USOC is also at fault. Was the USOC there to 'focus on supporting the brave survivors?' No. Did they issue any statement then? Crickets."

Raisman also slammed the USOC for "shamelessly taking credit" for the resignation of three USAG board members on Monday. She accurately points out that these were voluntary — no one was fired.

"[USOC is] still not acknowledging its own role in this mess. ZERO accountability! It's like none of us were ever abused!"
