There are a multitude of misconceptions about Alzheimer's disease. From the financial burden the disease places upon Americans to the notion that "Alzheimer's will never directly affect me," there are numerous mistruths worth addressing.

Regardless of whether or not you've got personal experience with the disease, you've likely been affected by it in some capacity: Today, for example, an estimated 250,000 children and young adults between ages eight and 14 provide care to persons with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. By 2050, experts predict as many as 16 million Americans will be living with the disease. Additionally, Alzheimer's costs U.S. taxpayers an estimated $18.3 million each hour.
