Just in time for the holidays, Amazon is expanding its free shipping offer to all.

Amazon has announced starting today, the e-commerce giant will offer free shipping to all of its U.S. customers, regardless of the amount spent.

Until today's announcement, if you weren't an Amazon Prime subscriber, you had to spend at least $25 in order to qualify for Amazon's free shipping. But now, the company is relieving everyone of this (already pretty small) obstacle.

With the holiday season now in full swing, Amazon is looking to cement its position as the premiere online shopping destination. Rivals like Walmart and Target recently announced free shopping options in order to compete in the holiday gift buying rush, too.

Prime members — those subscribing to to Amazon’s paid service at $119 per year -- are still being taken care of. In addition to free two-day shipping on millions of items, Amazon is also giving Prime subscribers free same-day shipping this holiday season. Previously, free same-day shipping was available to Prime members based on the item's and the buyer’s location.

If you’re not already Prime subscriber, Amazon’s free shipping option is available to you now through the holiday season. Take advantage and be prepared for the hard sell from Amazon as they try to upgrade you to Prime after you’ve had a taste of free expedited delivery on that bundle of new phone cables.
