Apple AirPods Pro 3 Live Translation meme bluntly deciphers snarky subtext

It's a good thing the new AirPods don't actually do this.

Apple unveiled a slew of new devices this week, from the iPhone 17 to the Watch Series 11. Among them was the AirPods Pro 3, offering the first significant update to Apple's earbuds in years. Priced at $249, the AirPods Pro 3 boasts foam ear tips and improved active noise control, as well as health and fitness features such as heart rate monitoring.

The AirPods Pro 3 also adds Live Translation, powered by Apple Intelligence. This feature enables the AirPods Pro 3 to listen to audio and translate it into different languages, offering realtime audio translations as well as displaying them on a phone.

"It doesn't just translate individual words," Kate Bergeron, Apple's vice president of hardware engineering, said during Tuesday's presentation. "The meaning of each phrase is translated for you. When you need to talk, just speak naturally."

Live Translation will support English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish at launch, with more languages to be added later this year. However, some people are already fantasising about other, less likely vernacular that the AirPods Pro 3 may be able to decipher. Social media users have created a meme in the wake of Apple's announcement, editing an image of the AirPods Pro 3 to show its Live Translation bluntly interpreting everything from corporate speak to real estate agents' spiels.

Apple's AirPods Pro 3 will be available from Sept. 19.
