Apple has released a security update for iOS and iPadOS, and you should take notice.

The company's new iOS 18.6.2 and iPadOS 18.6.2 software release both address a vulnerability that can result in memory corruption when the device processes a malicious image file.

The company says that the issue "may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals."

This means most users shouldn't be panicking as they're unlikely to get targeted. But whenever a vulnerability is being actively exploited in the wild, it's time to update as soon as possible.

Apple says that the affected devices are iPhone XS and later, iPad Pro 13-inch, iPad Pro 12.9-inch 3rd generation and later, iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later, iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 7th generation and later, and iPad mini 5th generation and later.

Apple also released an update to macOS Sequoia, bringing it to version 15.6.1. The release notes for this version merely say that the "update provides important bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users."
