Apple may have hidden a new product in plain sight at its Sept. 12 iPhone event.

The opening video that it used to kick off the event shows a woman wearing AirPods. Stopping in front of a pond, she says, "Hey Siri," but doesn't tap either earbud to activate Apple's digital assistant.

Hands-free Siri activation isn't currently a feature on the first-generation AirPods.

Is Apple teasing a new a pair of AirPods? A second generation of the true wireless earbuds are rumored to be in the works, with better battery life, hands-free 'Hey Siri", and water resistance.

It could be that Apple was planning to announce AirPods 2, but ended up delaying them for an unknown reason. Or maybe the video editor just made a mistake and there wasn't time to correct it. Whatever the case, it's not like Apple to tease a future product in a video.

At the end of the day, there was no mention of accessories at all from Apple yesterday. Just iPhones, Apple Watches, a HomePod update, and software release dates. Hey, Siri, where are the new AirPods?
