Here's what Apple's $14.5 billion in Irish taxes looks like in Apple products

After an in-depth analysis of Apple, the European Commission found that Ireland gave the company illegal tax benefits worth $14.5 billion (€13 billion).

On Tuesday, after a three-year investigation into Apple's Irish tax affairs, Apple was ordered to pay the €13 billion to the Irish government. The ruling states that the dealings are "illegal under EU state aid rules, because it allowed Apple to pay substantially less tax than other businesses. Ireland must now recover the illegal aid."

Now, $14.5 billion sounds like a lot of money, but to really put things into perspective, we figured we would break that figure down in terms of popular Apple products. Needless to say, the numbers were awe-inspiring.

Imagine all of the phone calls you could avoid answering on 21 million iPhones SEs and the passcode possibilities you could set on 18 million iPad Pros. Just think -- if you had 8 million Macbook Pros with 128GB of storage each, you'd finally have an adequate amount of space to store all of your selfies.

No, seriously. Consider all of the binge-watching that could take place as a result of 56 million Apple TV devices, or the insane amount of artwork you’d be able to create with 119 million Apple Pencils. The possibilities are endless.

The Irish government has since revealed plans to appeal the decision to charge Apple. Meanwhile, Apple CEO Tim Cook posted an official letter to the company's website stating that the ruling had "no basis in fact or law."

So unfortunately, it looks like Ireland might not be receiving its fortune of around 119 million Apple Pencils any time soon.
