Apple has pulled the iOS 17.3 beta 2 update after reports of putting iPhones in a "boot loop."

The second iOS 17.3 beta was released on Tuesday of this week, and by Friday the update had been "withdrawn temporarily," according to the release notes. Spotted by Macworld, users who had installed the latest version of iOS 17.3 experienced an issue where the iPhone kept restarting without ever updating to the new system. The iPadOS 17.3 beta has also been pulled. The update no longer appears as a beta option in Software Updates.

The release is expected to two new features called Stolen Device Protection and Apple Music collaborative playlists. Stolen Device Protection is a security feature that protects users if a thief learns their passcode. If the device is at an unknown location, it requires Face ID authentication to access sensitive information. This comes after reports of scammers peeking at people's passcodes in bars then taking their phones, per The Wall Street Journal.

If you've already installed the update, you can revert to the previous version by forcing a factory reset or entering Recovery Mode, which takes to you to the latest backup. In the meantime, keep an eye out for the de-bugged version of iOS 17.3 which will hopefully be rereleased soon.
