For someone whose sole motivation in life is the consumption of cookies, the Cookie Monster is surprisingly tech-savvy.

Apple did some recruiting on Sesame Street for its latest celebrity-powered commercial, which features the sugar-crazed Muppet in the kitchen waiting impatiently for his cookies to bake.

With his mind stuck on the anticipation, the Cookie Monster calls on Siri to cue up his "waiting playlist," then playfully kills time to the melancholy tune of Jim Croce's "Time in a Bottle."

The coupling of the melodramatic longing of the song and his child-like -- but ultimately despairing -- antics make the stakes at hand seem amusingly dramatic.

The intended message of the commercial is that the new hands-free capability of Apple's digital assistant is so convenient that anyone can make it work -- even someone with shaggy blue paws and the articulate ability of a cave man.

The Cookie Monster is just the latest in a long line of A-list talent the Cupertino giant has tapped for its recent advertising campaigns, including Stevie Wonder, Steph Curry and Jamie Foxx.
