Apple is shaking things up in its App Store in a big way.

Just how big? The entire App Store is getting a complete redesign.

Apple's Philip W. Schiller took the stage at the June 5 WWDC in San Jose, California, to announce the exciting news to a theater full of gathered developers. They were stoked.

For users, the most immediate and observable difference will be three new tabs: Today, Games, and Apps. The Today tab is essentially the new face of the app store. It will update every day showing new and popular apps. The Games tab will show, well, games. The Apps tab will show all the other apps.

"Now, we are taking everything we’ve learned from the App Store over the past nine years and putting it into a stunning new design," explained Schiller in a statement. "Every element of the new App Store is richer, more beautiful and more engaging.”

In addition, new editorial content is coming to the App Store — think features like an App of the Day, and a daily must list.

"Through in-depth features and interviews filled with beautiful artwork and videos, the App Store’s global team of editors will share the stories behind the apps and games that change the way we live and the developers whose ideas push and shape the world as we know it," the company announced in a statement. "Today will feature exclusive premieres, new releases and a fresh look at all-time favorites, as well as recommended tips and how-to guides to help customers use apps in innovative ways."

You'll have to wait a bit to see the new store on your own phone, as the redesigned App Store won't be available to users until the fall. It will be included with the release of iOS 11.
