Good news, everyone: ASCII bunnies are back!

You may have noticed a flood of socially progressive bunnies marching across your Twitter feeds over the weekend, holding little ASCII protest signs with their little ASCII bunny paws.

Although ASCII bunnies have been around for a while, variations of the meme can be traced back to 2013, according to Know Your Meme. It took off, dominating timelines through 2014 until the New York GOP tried to use it and killed the meme entirely. Sign bunny has been relatively dormant for the past four years, waiting to return with its endless supply of protest signs.

The bunny meme made a huge comeback on Wednesday, when historians began tweeting often overlooked facts from history with the hashtag #HistorianSignBunny.

The meme spread to all forms of academia.

And over the weekend, the bunny became a platform for all kinds of hot takes -- even the most wholesome ones.

The bunny's little sign became a billboard for social justice.

And offered words of advice.

The religious community even jumped in on the meme.

Linguists shared their hot takes.

While some were a bit bitter at sign bunny's return, Twitter's Johnny Sun blended it with another popular ASCII meme.

Political parties, thankfully, have so far stayed away from using the resurged bunny meme. It's safe to say that until they do, the ASCII bunny is alive and well!
