Que Bella! Aston Martin brings a taste of Italy to its newest concept car
Two of the finest automotive designers have come together once again to create a car that is almost upsettingly beautiful.
The bright-red beauty is called the Vanquish Zagato Concept. It was created by Aston Martin with the help of Italian automotive design firm Zagato for the prestigious Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este competition, held at Lake Como in Italy.

The Vanquish Zagato Concept is the fifth car the brands have created together over the last 50 years. Zagato's designers penned the thing at their studio in Milan, Italy. However, it was engineered by Aston Martin at their headquarters in Gaydon, England.
The whole thing was carved from carbon fiber. While unmistakably an Aston, the car incorporates historic marks from both brands.
The round rear tail lights, for example, are quintessential Zagato. So, too, is the "double bubble" roof, which Zagato created in the 1950s in order to accommodate racing helmets inside the cabin.
The bladed LEDs -- next to the Zagato roundies -- are from the Aston Martin Vulcan. However, the sculptural lines of the rear, though, were cribbed from the all-new DB11. The Vanquish Zagato Concept was also blessed with a 592-horsepower V12 engine under its long, rippling hood.
As for the interior, it too features design elements from both brands. You can see that Z was stitched into the seats, from the quilted leather pattern to emblazoned on the headrest. Designers finished it off with Herringbone carbon fiber that was paired with anodized bronze and aniline leather.
These elements give the interior a brooding but high-caliber appearance -- as one would have to expect from such an iconic twosome.
I don't want to say that this exactly foreshadows the next-gen Aston Martin Vanquish. That's because some elements -- mostly the Zagato bits -- are likely to be tweaked. That said, this should be seen as a strong indication to where Aston is headed with its next flagship coupe.
