Travellers share grim stories of being stuck on planes during Atlanta airport blackout
Travel delays are never fun, but spare a thought for those travelling through Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport.
The airport experienced an extended power outage which lasted from early afternoon through to the night on Sunday, forcing a ground stop on flights headed to Atlanta, with planes mid-flight diverted to alternative airports.
Dozens of flights had landed in Atlanta as the blackout occurred, with some forced to spend hours on the tarmac as they waited for crews to take passengers off via stairs.
It was the case for CNN's Betsy Klein, who tweeted her experience of spending seven hours stuck in a Delta airplane.

All power has been fully restored to the airport, and all passengers have now been deplaned. The City of Atlanta will allow travellers to stay at the Georgia International Convention Center for the night and Chick-Fil-A will provide food.
