LOS ANGELES -- With 1.5 million Twitter followers, it's safe to say that Aubrey Plaza knows a thing or two about obsessed fans, especially following her ribald turn in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.

In her next film, Plaza herself will be that obsessed fan, as she has signed on to star opposite Elizabeth Olsen in the dark comedy Ingrid Goes West, it was announced Monday.

Matt Spicer will make his directorial debut with the film, which he co-wrote with David Branson Smith. It's been a good week for Spicer, who is also writing Disney's Rocketeer reboot with Max Winkler.

Not only is Plaza starring in the indie movie, which is currently filming in Los Angeles, but she's also making her producing debut. Plaza will play the title character, a mentally unstable woman who becomes obsessed with a social media influencer (Olsen) who lives a seemingly picture-perfect life.

When Ingrid sets out for the West Coast to befriend her idol, her behavior takes an unsettling turn and she becomes increasingly dangerous. The Parks and Recreation veteran has enjoyed a breakout year with eye-opening turns in Dirty Grandpa and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates

While Olsen recently played the Scarlet Witch in Captain America: Civil War, Plaza has her own Marvel-branded project on the horizon, as she co-stars opposite Dan Stevens on FX's Legion, which hits the small screen next year.

Olsen will soon be seen alongside Jeremy Renner in the indie Wind River, which hails from some of the same producers as Ingrid Goes West. CAA represents Spicer and Plaza, who is managed by MGMT Entertainment. Olsen is repped by the Gersh Agency and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, while Branson Smith is repped by by WME and LBI Entertainment.
