Australian couple whose children died in MH17 crash give birth to baby girl
There sadly hasn't been much hope from the tragedy that is flight MH17 -- but a new birth will provide some joy for one couple.
Violet May Maslin was born to Australian parents Anthony Maslin and Marite Norris on Wednesday, bringing "love and light, hope and joy" according to the family's statement sent via the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The couple lost three children and Norris' father when Malaysia Airlines flight 17 was brought down by a missile on Jul. 17, 2014 over eastern Ukraine.

"Our family was torn apart when MH17 was blown out of the sky by the violent anger of a nationalist missile," the statement read.
The children who died in the incident would have had their birthdays recently, but the birth of Violet has been a welcome addition amid the grief.
"We believe that Mo, whose 14th birthday was Saturday, Evie, 12 next week, Otis, 10 next month, and grandad Nick have sent us an amazing gift. Violet's birth is a testament to our belief that love is stronger than hate," according to the statement.
"We still live with pain, but Violet, and the knowledge that all four kids are with us always, brings light to our darkness."
Violet will become part of the family, loved as much as the children and their grandfather who are no longer with them.
"We will continue to love all four of our children equally. Violet brings some hope and joy for us. We hope she brings hope and joy for you too."
