International Women's Day is here, and to mark the annual celebration of women around the world, Barack Obama tweeted an inspiring thread.

"On International Women's Day, I’m reflecting on the future we all want for our daughters: one where they can live out their aspirations without limits," the former president tweeted before most people had their morning coffee.

Obama went on to say that he'd be celebrating today by highlighting "some of the women who are building that future for all of us today," and started a thread to highlight three women in particular.

First up, Obama Foundation Fellow and head of the Change.org Foundation, Preethi Herman. According to Obama, Herman is "helping women unleash their power to change their societies" and "leading an initiative that combines online tools with in-person organizing, giving women a voice in her native India—and beyond."

He then highlighted the work of Alice Barbe, Obama Foundation Scholar and co-founder of Signa France, for embracing a shared humanity and "helping refugees resettle into welcoming communities in France, offering them job training and language immersion, as well as a place to stay."

Lastly, the Obama celebrated Sefora Kodjo and her efforts to help women leaders in Africa thrive. "Her organization is training and mentoring young women across the continent to adopt a new model of leadership, one that puts gender equality at the heart of economic development," he wrote.

Obama closed the thread by reiterating that these three women remind him what International Women's Day is all about: "Imagining a world free of artificial ceilings for the next generation — and doing the hard work to get us there."

Meanwhile, President Trump spent his morning tweeting about the wall, the media, immigration, "presidential harassment," a "witch hunt", and other topics unrelated to women. But after switching gears to tweet a statistic about women's unemployment, the president released a statement on International Women's Day.

While Trump did begin his statement by honoring women worldwide "for their vital role in shaping and strengthening our communities, families, governments, and businesses,"in the paragraphs that followed, he was sure to call attention to all the efforts he has made to help women.

Maybe we can just let women have this one day.
