A European trip for a couple hundred bucks doesn't sound real. But one budget airline is pushing the impossible and offering flights from the West Coast to certain cities in Europe for under $100.

There's some fine print, but it's actually not too restricting if you're itching for a Scandinavian vacation.

Starting this week, flights on the Icelandic airline WOW from Los Angeles and San Francisco are offered for $70 to Stockholm; Copenhagen; Bristol, England; and Edinburgh. But that's just one way. To get home, you'll need to book a not-as-thrifty ticket back.

The bargain flights are only offered on flights between Jan. 15 and April 5 and depending on your destination you have to fly out either on a Tuesday or Thursday.

To check out the deal, Mashable went through the steps of booking a flight from SFO to Stockholm at the end of January. While we snagged one of the $70 Europe-bound flights on the online reservation system, on the way back the cheapest flights were around $180.

Our hypothetical Swedish vacation included a layover in Reykjavik in both directions for some Icelandic airport sightseeing, so it's not the most efficient route.

Also don't forget there are plenty of taxes and baggage fees. To check in luggage it'll cost you about the same price as your bargain ticket: $71. A large carry-on tacks on an additional $50.

Still, it's a pretty good deal if you're looking for an excuse to use some vacation days.
