After over a year of work, Battlefield 1 players have finally cracked a secret code and found a secret website that teases the date of when we find out more about the next game in the Battlefield franchise: May 23.

It all started with a mysterious door with horrible noises behind it that players found on a map in the game's They Shall Not Pass expansion from March 2017. The conspicuous door in the basement of the Fort Vaux map was blocked and unable to be opened, but players speculated that there was something important behind there.

They finally figured out how to open the door (lovingly called the zombie door) this week and take a look inside. YouTuber and Battlefield 1 Easter egg hunter Captain Eggcellent put together a very helpful breakdown of how to unlock the door, which is a very convoluted process:

The room behind the door is a bit of a grisly scene, but for the most part it seems like there's nothing else to gain from it.

Except there is.

Inside the room there's a leaking pipe that's dripping liquid down onto the floor. Someone with very sharp ears figured out that the drips actually translated into Morse code. When the intrepid puzzle solvers translated the drips, they got a link: ea.com/neverbethesame.

The webpage has a date on it, May 23, which is likely the day that EA will release more information about the next Battlefield game.

We don't know too many details about the next game yet, including when and where it takes place, but EA has previously stated that the game will be playable this summer at E3.
