Riders had to be rescued after Battlestar Galactica rollercoaster stalls in Singapore
SINGAPORE -- Riders on a popular Universal Studios Singapore rollercoaster had to be rescued by staff, after they were stuck on the ride for about 20 minutes on Wednesday afternoon.
People onboard the much hyped Battlestar Galactica ride were guided along the rails and brought to safety individually, over a process that took some 20 minutes, an eyewitness told The Straits Times.

The ride is the main attraction at the theme park, and is touted as one of the more thrilling there, featuring a pair of intertwining tracks that go up 14-storeys high, and travels at up to 90 km/h for 90 seconds.
Resorts World Sentosa, which manages Universal Studios Singapore, confirmed in local reports that the ride experienced a "technical error" at about 4pm in the afternoon, and that it was resumed an hour later, at 5pm.

The problematic ride has been plagued by technical faults since the start. Just a week after the theme park opened in 2010, one of the seats became "detached" and the ride was closed for nine months.
Later in 2013, the ride was shut again for an undisclosed reason for nearly two years before finally reopening in May 2015.
