Something might be up with Apple's wireless headphones tech.

After Apple's AirPods were delayed for an unspecified reason in October, Beats' wireless earbuds BeatsX seem to be delayed as well.

According to an AppleInsider report, Apple retailer B&H told a customer in an email that the BeatsX -- originally slated for a December launch -- probably won't arrive for another couple of months.

"The manufacturer has informed us that they still do not know when they will begin shipping this item but they do know that it will take at least 2-3 months," the email said.

The Beats website still gives the BeatsX launch date as "late 2016," and customers can sign up to get notified when the $149.95 'buds become available.

This is notable as the BeatsX use Apple's newW1 wireless chip, which also powers both the AirPods. On the other hand, the Powerbeats3 and Solo 3 models also have the W1, and they're currently shipping, so the simultaneous delay of the AirPods and BeatsX could be a coincidence and/or unrelated to the W1 chip.

We've reached out to Apple and will update this post when we hear more.
