On Tuesday afternoon, Ben Affleck visited The Ellen Show to open about his family and his upcoming Batman movie.

In the interview, the strapping dad spoke candidly about his split from actress Jennifer Garner. He said, above all, they wanted to work together in raising their three children, Samuel, Violet and Seraphina.

"We're good friends ... and our kids are fabulous," he said. "We're working our best for them."

Affleck also shared a little about his buzzy superhero movie, Batman vs. Superman.

He talked about his four-year-old son freaking out at meeting the "real life" Superman (sorry Samuel, he's actually just a very well-gelled Henry Cavill).

Batman vs. Superman arrives in theaters March 25.
