Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon who recently suspended his campaign for president, will endorse Donald Trump at a press conference in Florida Friday morning, Trump said Thursday night at a GOP debate.

Carson will make the endorsement in Palm Beach, Florida, at Trump's Mar-A-Lago Club.

"I was with Dr. Ben Carson today, who is endorsing me, by the way, tomorrow morning" Trump said at a GOP debate in Miami. "We spoke for over an hour on education."

Trump had released the details of the press conference on Thursday, but did not specify what he would be announcing.

Trump now counts two former presidential hopefuls among his endorsers. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie endorsed Trump in February in Texas.

Carson's endorsement could be a boost for Trump as he seeks to lock up the Republican nomination.

The retired neurosurgeon is a hero among religious conservatives and could help swing that group of voters to Trump's camp.

That would likely hurt Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who has made a strong appeal to evangelicals and voters who consider themselves "very conservative."

Trump currently leads the delegate race in the GOP primary and is hoping to grab victories in winner-take-all contests in Ohio and Florida on Tuesday.
