It was only a matter of time before a politician hopped on the Cardi B bandwagon.

The rapper is currently in the midst of enormous success on the Billboard charts and on social media where she's never been shy to speak up about taxes, rumors, and other things I probably shouldn't mention here.

While speaking with GQ this month, Cardi continued to open up, though this time about her love of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Bernie Sanders seemed to have been paying attention.

In the interview, Cardi mentioned she loved FDR because of his handling of the New Deal and the Social Security Act he signed into law in 1935 (not the Japanese Interment camps he ordered in 1942, thank goodness).

Senator Sanders applauded Cardi in a tweet on Wednesday, using the Brox native's quotes about FDR to continue speaking up in support of strengthening social security, a major issue he ran on during the 2016 presidential campaign.

"Cardi B is right," his tweet read. "If we are really going to make America great we need to strengthen Social Security so that seniors are able to retire with the dignity they deserve."

Safe to say the shoutout was met with mixed reviews from folks who saw the Senator's tweet.

What a time to be alive. Maybe Sanders will start quoting Kanye tweets next.
