Prime Day may be over, but Best Buy's holiday kickoff event is still on for the entire month of October

UPDATE: Oct. 12, 2023, 5:30 p.m. EDT We've updated this post with the latest info on Best Buy's month-long October savings event.
Best Buy isn't the only retailer running some conveniently scheduled counter-programming to Prime Big Deal Days, Amazon's October Prime Day sale, but it is bringing some of the fiercest competition across popular tech categories, even after Prime Day has ended.
The electronics store is supplementing its monthlong holiday sneak peek event with several smaller sales — though the 48-Hour Flash Sale that ran counter to Prime Day on Oct. 10 and 11 is done, there are still more savings to be had.
What is the Best Buy sales event and when does it start?
Best Buy's savings event kicked off on Oct. 1 and is ongoing throughout the entire month. According to a press release from Best Buy, the retailer will be offering new perks every single day in Oct., including but not limited to "purchase rewards, exclusive sale events with top brands like Samsung and Microsoft, access to deeper discounts for Plus and Total members, and more."
Here's the order of the scheduled events:
What's happened so far:
Member exclusives: Every single day in Oct., Best Buy Total and Plus members will get access to exclusive deals and discounts across the Best Buy catalog. As an added bonus, Total and Plus members who spend at least $500 in Oct. will receive a $50 certificate to use on December purchases. Members will also get early access to select Black Friday deals from Oct. 27-29.
48-Hour Flash Sale: Best Buy hosted a 48-Hour Flash sale from Oct. 10-11, and featured hundreds of deals from on big-ticket items like Apple devices and home security systems. Not to mention, it put more energy into sales on splurges like QLED TVs and laptops compared to Amazon, which typically focuses on mid-size budget 4K TVs (like Fire TVs) and sub-$100 smart home devices.
Up next:
Exclusive Samsung and Microsoft sales: Being a non-Apple-user pays off sometimes, huh? During Oct., Best Buy will be partnering with tech giants Samsung and Microsoft for two special sale events. The former has already taken place from Oct. 6-8, but the latter will be on from Oct. 13-15. For the Microsoft event, shoppers will have access to exclusive offers on Xbox and Windows products, including savings of up to $500 on Windows laptops.
Weekend gaming event: Finally, Best Buy will also be holding a weekend gaming event from Oct. 20-22 with sweet deals on hardware, games, and accessories.
As you can see, this sale isn't a subscribers-only affair like Amazon's festivities, though paid members of its My Best Buy rewards program receive exclusive access to special offers and better discounts on certain items (among other perks).
Here are some deals live now ahead of the Microsoft sale and gaming event as part of the month-long sales event:

Why we like it
This TCL TV is a Best Buy exclusive, but even if it wasn't, this $350 sale price would be hard to match. Though it's not quite as low as the $330 flash sale price, simply put: Mid-sized, current-year QLED models don't often get this cheap.

The Apple Watch SE is $30 off and back down to its lowest price ever. The budget-friendly smartwatch is a great pick for anyone who doesn't need the full range of fitness features. It typically doesn't go on sale for $30 off too often — case in point, Amazon has already bumped the price back up on the 40mm watches.

The last time the Google Nest Thermostat went on sale was during Amazon's flagship Prime Day sale in July, so if you've been waiting for the right time to buy, it's now. This device lets you control the temp of your home with your phone or your voice, and it automatically sets to Eco mode when you leave the house to maximize your energy savings. Best of all, it's easy to install by yourself.
