NEW YORK --For the second year in a row, HBO’s Veep took home an Emmy for best comedy series.

The show, which almost doubled its nomination count from nine last year to 17 this year, had one of its strongest seasons to date, under new show runner David Mandel (who replaced Armando Iannucci).

Veep won two other Emmys this year, including a best lead actress in a comedy series award for Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who has won five years in a row for the same role.
