At the top level of competitive gaming, the best of the best give it their all to win big. On their way to victory, professional esports players will inevitably make some jaw-dropping plays ... or epic fails. Each week, Mashable rounds up the most mind-blowing highlights in esports for your enjoyment.

Over the past week, Counster-Strike: Global Offensive teams battled to qualify for the ELeague Major, Call of Duty World League had its first event of the 2016-2017 season, Melee players duked it out in the Pacific Northwest and North American Overwatch teams battled to qualify for the next season of OGN's Overwatch Apex.

Check out our favorite plays from the past week below.

1. Call of Duty -- Faccento kill-streaks to victory

At the for Call of Duty World League event after the release of Infinite Warfare, Rise Nation rose to the challenge and came out on top with the help of Brice Faccento, who finished the first round of the grand finals with an amazing 37/22 KD. The first streak starts at 7:23:48 as Faccento lands perfect shot after perfect shot to rack up his kill count at an insane pace, helping push his team to an easy point on the board.

2. CS:GO -- Mo starts with a DEagle and ends with an ace

TyLoo wasn't exactly expected to go far in the Major qualifiers with so many powerhouse teams in the tournament, but Ke "Mo" Liu showed the world that the Chinese team can still tango with the best. In TyLoo's match against Mousesports, Mo proved that his "CaptainMo" name wasn't just for show, lining up three headshots with his Desert Eagle early in a money-strapped round against a fully loaded Mousesports. Mo picked up the enemy AWP and went to town, taking out the next two members of Mousesports with their own gun to earn the ace.

3. Overwatch -- The Meta gives the world a lesson on teamwork

At the qualifiers for OGN's second season of Overwatch Apex, challenger team The Meta squared off against Season 1 participant Rhinos Gaming Titan, looking for a win on the final map: Eichenwalde. With short time on the clock and two more points to reach, The Meta stuck together and snuck around to the high ground near the castle doors. Kim "Libero" Hye Sung (Mei) used Ice Wall to boost up Ha "SayaPlayer" Jeong Woo (McCree) while Choi "Hoon" Jae Hoon (Zarya) sucked in the enemy team with a Graviton Surge. McCree used a perfectly timed Deadeye to take out a Lúcio and Soldier: 76, and The Meta wiped the entire enemy team to eventually win the round and the entire series.

4. Super Smash Bros. Melee -- Hungrybox KO's Leffen with an off-stage rest

The Don't Park on the Grass Melee tournament was down to two titans -- Juan "Hungrybox" DeBiedma vs. William "Leffen" Hjelte, playing Jigglypuff vs. Fox. In the third game of the best-of-five series, Hungrybox was in the lead two stocks to one as Leffen was looking to even it out. Hungrybox got into a great combo sending Leffen off the left side, but Leffen shined and reversed the momentum for a moment. As Leffen was readying his up special to get back on the stage, Hungrybox came in with a hit and a perfect don special rest to send Leffen careening to his death in style.

5. CS:GO -- F0rest clutches two birds with one stone

Ninjas in Pyjamas was tied with HellRaisers in overtime at the ELeague Major qualifiers, and Patrik "F0rest" Lindberg was in a 1v2 defensive situation. HellRaisers already got the bomb down so F0rest moved quickly with an AWP, circling around to take out Vlаdуslаv "Bondik" Nеchуроrchuk and Bence "DeadFox" Böröcz. As the two approached through the tunnel, F0rest fired off a quick shot, lining it up perfectly to take out both the players with one shot and allowing him to run back and defuse the bomb to win the round.
