Unlike artists like Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam -- both of whom pulled out of shows in North Carolina in response to House Bill 2 -- Beyoncé chose to perform in Raleigh on Tuesday night during her Formation World Tour.

The star made it clear that this doesn't mean she supports HB2, known as "the Bathroom Bill" -- which severely limit the rights of transgender people in the state, requiring them to use bathrooms and locker rooms that correspond to their "biological sex."

In a statement on her website -- one far less pointed than Springsteen's or Pearl Jam's -- the Lemonade singer brought attention to "those who are committed to being good and carrying on the message of equality in this core of controversy," like Equality North Carolina.

Last month, Cyndi Lauper announced that she would be donating all proceeds from her show in the state to Equality North Carolina, a local LGBT organization that has been lobbying for the repeal of HB2. Similarly, Father John Misty announced that he'll donate all proceeds from his Charlotte concert to Time Out Youth.

But other artists have chosen to protest by pulling out of North Carolina entirely.

Springsteen was the first major artist to do so, saying in a statement last month that the decision is a show of solidarity.

"Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry — which is happening as I write — is one of them," he wrote. "It is the strongest means I have for raising my voice in opposition to those who continue to push us backwards instead of forwards."
