Big Brother -- your favorite annual summer fling -- is officially back and as twist-filled as ever, with four surprise houseguests and a twist that turned the whole competition into a nightmare for anyone who hated group projects in school.

In the first twist of the season, instead of meeting 16 new faces that you'll promptly forget after September, viewers were introduced to 12 new human-ish beings and four familiar faces, or as Julie Chen called them "stowaways." These were houseguests from seasons past who would be getting a second chance to compete. That's when James Huling (Season 17), Da'Vonne Rogers (Season 17), Nicole Franzel (Season 16) and Frank Eudy (Season 14) were revealed to be the final four houseguests of the season.

In another twist, the houseguests were told they'd be competing on teams of four, with each veteran player being put on a different team. This is not totally unlike a Season 14 twist that also brought back former houseguests, but in this case, the team that lost after three rounds of competition would be forced to eliminate one of their members.

Many people, particularly Da'Vonne, were not happy about having their fates largely in the hands of others.

Team Unicorn (James, Natalie, Victor and Bronte) won the first round and earned two weeks of safety because Victor managed to stay affixed to a giant rocket longer than everyone else. It wasn't awkward at all.

Category 4 (Frank, Michelle, Paulie and Bridgette) won the second round of competition, which was essentially a sandcastle building competition from hell. And after a fierce puzzle battle, Big Sister (Da'Vonne, Paul, Zakiyah and Jozea) won the third round.

That meant Team Freakazoids (Nicole, Corey, Tiffany and Glenn) will have to compete against each other tomorrow (in night 2 of the two-night premiere) to see who will be the first person evicted.

Let's hope for their sake the competition doesn't involve making up team names because it's obviously not their strong suit.
