The Overwatch World Cup is Blizzard's own international Overwatch tournament featuring teams from 60 different countries and regions around the world, the best of which will compete for first place at BlizzCon in November.

This tournament has a twist, though. Unlike other esports tournaments where teams form on their own, the Overwatch World Cup assembles its teams through community voting. Blizzard will be nominating top-level players from each country or region, and then fans from those countries or regions will be able to vote on Aug. 11 for which players will represent them.

You can only vote for players in the nation or region your Battle.net account is registered. You can see if it's included on the list here:

After being set, the teams will participate in single-elimination online qualifier matches starting in September. The countries with an asterisk in the list above will automatically qualify to compete at BlizzCon.

"To ensure that all major regions of the world are well-represented at BlizzCon, the sixteen teams competing there will include six from the Europe game region, six from the Asia-Pacific game regions, and four from the Americas," Blizzard said in its blog post.

The top 16 teams that make it through the qualifiers will compete in round-robin group stages at BlizzCon in November, ending with best-of-five, single-elimination finals.

While there is no prize pool for the Overwatch World Cup, the 16 teams that make it to BlizzCon get a free trip to the convention and will get an "appearance bonus."

Exact details on eligibility for players has not been released by Blizzard yet, but the developer's blog post said it will select players to vote on based on skill, community standing and more. In order to participate at any level, including voting, you must own a copy of Overwatch.
