Grabbing a pack of gum on the way back from the subway Thursday won't be easy as normal for New Yorkers. But they aren’t getting mad — instead, they’re snapping photos and showing love to their neighborhood bodegas on social media.

Instagram and Twitter have been filling up with #BodegaStrike photos as people stand in solidarity with an estimated 1,000 neighborhood grocers, a protest organized by the local Yemeni-American community against Donald Trump's travel ban.

Even New York City mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted his solidarity with bodega owners.

On top of the moving images of closed shops, a rally with business owners and other Yemeni-Americans and supporters drew a big crowd Thursday afternoon. Demonstrators even showed up hours before the event and held a prayer session.

In a news release about the strike and rally, organizers said the store shutdown hopes to show "the vital role these grocers and their families play in New York’s economic and social fabric and, during this period, grocery store owners will spend time with their families and loved ones to support each other; many of these families have been directly affected by the Ban."

The strike is also giving New York neighbors all the feels.
