Dr. Brennan might be a woman with superhuman smarts, but even she can fall prey to the worst kind of enemy: the flu.

On Thursday's episode of Bones, the Jeffersonian's fearless leader falls sick, requiring her team to enlist the help of an outsider, who turns out to be a former insider.

Enter former intern Dr. Colin Fisher (guest star Joel David Moore) -- yes, he's a doctor now.

In the sneak peek above, which you're seeing first on Mashable, Fisher returns to his former lab to act as lead on a case involving a dead secret service agent, and in the process, he gets a chance to catch up with his former superiors.

We won't spoil the fun of the clip, but let's just say he's had an unconventional journey and destination.

“The Secret in the Service" airs May 26 on Fox.
