As the fallout from Brexit continues, the UK just got their biggest shock yet: the appointment of oafish former London Mayor Boris Johnson as foreign secretary.

With the confirmation of Theresa May as the new Prime Minister, more appointments fell into line, including Johnson.

The former mayor of London is known for getting himself into ridiculous situations (like tackling a small child), kind of like a spiritual brother to now-deceased former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.

Johnson is also known for stupefying, and sometimes racist, remarks. In April, he became a "birther" when he suggested U.S. President Barack Obama was "part-Kenyan."

And then there's the dirty poem he wrote about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in response to the country's censorship crackdown, in which he intimated Erdoğan was a chronic masturbator who preferred the company of goats.

Twitter, of course, was quick to react to the appointment, giving a fresh twist to some of Johnson’s past foibles.
