'Better Call Saul' will hit 'Breaking Bad'-era scenes in upcoming season

It's really happening.

It has been five grueling years since we last visited Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, but... that could be about to change.

AMC's Better Call Saul is finally allowing its time jump structure to take us right into the meat of Breaking Bad.

A recent Entertainment Weekly interview with co-creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould revealed that Better Call Saul's upcoming Season 4 will feature "a subplot that very squarely gets into Breaking Bad territory and brings us into the world — or at least points us on a path toward the world of Walter White and the territory of Walter White."

What does that super cagey quote from Gilligan actually mean?

Well, we know Bob Odenkirk, Saul, will appear in the subplot's scenes, but all that "world of" and "territory of" couching indicates we won't be getting a Bryan Cranston appearance anytime soon.

Gould commented that Walter White's return engagement was at least "a few years off." We can still hope for an Aaron Paul cameo. Or, perhaps, we're headed into Hank territory.

Depending on who Saul's clients are this season, we could be primed for a visit from our favorite DEA agent. And considering this alleged vocal cameo in Season 3, a visit from Special Agent Schrader would definitely make sense.

The Breaking Bad empire will continue to grow with Better Call Saul's Season 4 premiere on Monday, August 6, 9/8c on AMC.
