Britons' obsession with Pokémon Go isn't going away anytime soon - so a group of campaigners had a wild idea to capitalize on the phenomenon.

The pro-European Union campaigners have put up signs around London that equate the status of EU citizens in post-Brexit Britain with Pokémon.

Signs read: “Illegal Pokemon WILL be deported" or "By 2019 your Pokemon may lose their right to live in the UK."

The #PokemonGoHome campaign was recently launched "to draw attention to the uncertainty surrounding the fate of EU Nationals in the UK, who may lose their right to live and work here."

The initiative is also linked to a petition that attempts “to guarantee EU nationals a right to remain in the UK and show that people are just as important as Pokémon."

People are sharing pictures of the signs on social media:

The British government has so far yet to guarantee the rights of EU citizens to stay in Britain once the country is no longer a member state. A new analysis by the Social Market Foundation says the status of as many as 590,000 EU citizens living in the UK could be at risk once Britain leaves the union.
