Brie Larson to build a 'Unicorn Store' before taking on 'Captain Marvel'
LOS ANGELES -- Oscar-winning actress and future Captain Marvel Brie Larson is using her newfound clout to make her directorial debut with the quirky indie comedy Unicorn Store, Mashable has confirmed.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news Monday that Larson will also star in and produce the film, which was written by Samantha McIntyre.
Rebel Wilson was previously attached to star back in 2012, when Miguel Arteta was onboard to direct.

Unicorn Store will find Larson playing Kit, a young woman who moves back in with her parents and is subsequently invited to a magical store that challenges her ideas of what it really means to grow up.
Joining the Room star in producing the movie will be Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer and Paris Hilton's former fiancé Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis, among others. Larson's manager, Anne Woodward, will executive produce the film, which is expected to start production in October.
Larson has experience behind the camera, having previously co-directed the short film The Arm, which won an award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012.
Larson next stars in Jordan Vogt-Roberts' blockbuster Kong: Skull Island, Ben Wheatley's crime drama Free Fire and Lionsgate's The Glass Castle, which marks a reunion with her Short Term 12 director Destin Daniel Cretton. She's represented by WME and Authentic Talent and Literary Management.
