LONDON - Wedding days are filled with loads of special memories, from the dress to the ceremony and often even the transport.

One London couple decided to take a very unusual route to their nuptials: A regular Southeastern train.

Holly Mahoney and Ben Gibbs discussed for some time how they would get their guests from their ceremony at St Stephens Church in South Dulwich in London to the reception venue in Herne Hill on Saturday May 7.

After realising that the traditional red Routemaster bus was going to be too expensive, they contacted Southeastern trains to see if they could help out, Mahoney told Mashable.

The company's travel coordinator, Sharon McCarthy, obliged and really went the extra mile to make the couple's day memorable.

Not only did she book out a carriage on the 2.34 pm train from Sydenham Hill, she decorated it with balloons and altered the message board to feature their names.

The journey was only two stops on the train, some four minutes of travel and by far the quickest route for the party.

Thankfully, the train was running on time and the guests made it to the venue - where a very British menu of Scotch eggs and fish and chips was waiting - in plenty of time.
