Facebook brings guys with same name together in a bromance for the ages

The love between mates with the same name is real.

One day you'll get to experience the pure joy of meeting someone with the exact same name as you.

But in the meantime, there's Sam Mitchell from Tasmania and his namesake from England, who have the most incredible story of how they met, something which was chronicled on reddit recently.

The pair met after the Australian Mitchell sent a message to the English Mitchell on Facebook, seemingly just to say hello.

"You may be wondering why I have sent you a friend request. I had to because we share the same name. Middle name as well. Good day sir," Australian Mitchell wrote.

Turns out English Mitchell happened to not too far away, as he'd just recently moved Down Under. It's a small world, after all.

Eventually the pair started exchanging banter publicly on Facebook, where their friends started to get involved. Then someone came up with a wild idea: Why not get both Mitchells to hang out IRL?

So they all pitched in for a flight from Melbourne to Hobart, all within four hours of the first message, according to the Daily Mail.

Things could've been awkward, but they ended up quickly becoming great mates.

"We weren't sure what to think of each other. It wasn't until 20-odd minutes after we picked Sam up we realised we were going to get along just fine... made the next few days a bit more fun," Australian Mitchell told the news outlet.

The pair spent their new year's drinking plenty of beers, competing in a "Sam Mitchell Olympics" where they pitted against each other in beer pong and bucket racing, a variation on the sack race. They even shared a kiss under the fireworks.

This folks, is what real bromance looks like.
