NYC bar really wants to teach people how to throw axes

Throwing darts at the bar is so 2017.

Throwing darts at the bar is so 2017.

Kick Axe is a new bar in Brooklyn that offers throwing axe lessons whether you're alone or with a group of your adventurous friends.

The bar and lounge say they can teach you in under 10 minutes with an expert helping you perfect your throwing skills. Move over, Paul Bunyan, there's a new lumberjack in town.

On Friday, they will start offering drinks and a large array of "high-end" pop-tarts. If that's not enough for you, they have a food truck around during peak hours.

But the number one question we all have, why in the hell would we want to throw axes? Well, Kick Axe had the perfect answer for that.

"Umm...why wouldn't you? Not only is it crazy fun, it is hugely satisfying! And easy. It's all about momentum and not strength," the website stated. "An 8-year-old can potentially throw better than a 30-year-old. After we teach you how to throw, we set you up with some fun competitive games!"

The New York bar offer walk-ins for over $28 a person for a one hour experience. You can even book your child's next birthday party (seriously, though child must be at least 7 years old) for $35 a person.

Of course, you can't just stop by and start throwing all the axes at the bar. Kick Axe makes you sign a waiver before participating because the last thing they want is a lawsuit on their hands... or a missing finger on the counter.

Also, for the axe-loving type, Kick Axe offers a membership. All you have to do is email them and express your axe-throwing desires.

So, if you're in need of something to do in NYC on Christmas Eve, the place will be open starting at 11 a.m. to let you get all your holiday season rage.

Axe-throwing bars and facilities have been popping up all over the world. In Canada and the U.S., you'll find multiple locations for chain Bad Axe Throwing. Toronto even has its own Backyard Axe Throwing League. There's BYOB joint Lumberjaxe in Charlotte, Urban Axes in Philadelphia, Austin and Baltimore, Thunderbolt Axe Throwing in Chicago and Denver has its own Downtown Axe Room. Australia's hitting targets too, with Maniax joints in Sydney and Melbourne.

Seems people really, really want to throw an axe at something.
