The streets of Philadelphia are a fine place to learn a lesson they won't teach you in school: Bruce Springsteen is more important than school.

Nevertheless, a fine young man was wise enough to skip the first day of fifth grade for a chance to meet the Boss, and things worked out just fine.

Michael Fenerty accompanied his dad to Springsteen's show, and, per the school's policy requiring a note when a student is absent, got the rock and roll icon to sign one.

"[Springsteen] said, 'I have to read it first, that's how I got in trouble with my first contract,'" Michael's dad told Philly.com. "He said, 'I hope you don't get in trouble.'"

Michael wisely handed over a photocopied version of the note instead of the real deal.
