Actress Brynne Huffman is body shamed for wearing shorts a.k.a. living her life

"Women. Do not tear each other down. Celebrate each other. Every day."

Actress Brynne Huffman posted a story on Facebook about being body shamed that was then shared by the popular Facebook page Love What Matters and liked over 400,000 times.

When Huffman smiled at a woman waiting in line behind her at the UPS store, her kindness was returned with a backhanded comment: "Your hair really is amazing ... You should probably rethink the shorts though."

Ironically, the overly confident woman was wearing a shirt that said Coexist, an organization that aims to "understand across divides."

"So many things ran through my head," Huffman wrote. "Because I don't have time to get arrested today, what came out was this: 'You should probably rethink your shirt.'"

Huffman went on to remind readers why being plus-sized or fat does not need to have negative connotations.

"Gender doesn't matter. Race doesn't matter. Religion doesn't matter. Sexual orientation doesn't matter," Huffman said. "But fat? Apparently fat matters."

Huffman rightfully shamed body shaming. "You might have an issue with my body. I don't," she wrote. "And I've worked very hard past judgmental family and friends, past divorce, past depression to NOT have an issue with my body."

Huffman, who lives in Frisco, Texas, then encouraged women to celebrate each other instead of tearing each other down.

After her post went viral, she quickly created Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat pages called The Body You Have, where she has been advocating for body positivity.
