With weeks to live, Buddy the blue heeler becomes honourary police dog

The Queensland Police Service stepped into help on Thursday afternoon, making the 6-year-old blue heeler a police dog for a day, completing number 17 on his bucket list.

This time around, Buddy was made an honorary member of Dutton Park Police's dog squad, picking up the ropes in the police car with recruit dog Chopper and police puppy Bendix, according to Queensland Police.

Emily told Mashable Australia it all came together when a police officer on the Sunshine Coast saw the page and made the calls to make it happen. "She was absolutely amazing, I'm so grateful to her," Emily said.

Following the ride, Buddy was rewarded with presents and a certificate that made Buddy an honourary police dog and handler.
