Buffy fans, there's a new story on the way for you with original cast members and not a Joss Whedon in sight.

Audible has announced a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer audio original, set 10 years after the events of the series finale (it's actually been 20 years (!) since the final episode aired in May 2003). Notably, Buffy series creator Whedon isn't involved — for reasons we can guess.

Slayers: A Buffyverse Story is set to premiere Oct. 12 on Amazon's audio platform, and will star original cast members James Marsters (Spike/original Ken), Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia), Anthony Head (Giles), Juliet Landau (Drusilla), Emma Caulfield Ford (Anya), James Charles Leary (Clem), and Danny Strong (Jonathan), and Amber Benson (Tara), with new additions.

Slayers was written by Benson, who played Tara Maclay for three seasons in the series (Benson left the show in Season 6 and didn't return, saying, "I had had some issues with somebody on the show, and it had kind of come to a head as I was getting ready to leave.") Benson worked on Slayers with writer Christopher Golden, and the two co-directed it with Kc Wayland.

Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, won't make an appearance we're afraid, and that's covered in the plot. The story will pick up a decade after that series finale, as Spike tries to blend in among the forces of darkness in Los Angeles. Sadly, the game is up thanks to teen Slayer Indira Nunnally (Laya DeLeon Hayes), who blows his cover. Tasked with finding a Watcher for her, Spike finds his way into a parallel universe in which Buffy Summers doesn't exist (we've been here before) and Spike's ex Drusilla is the big villain.

And here, instead of Buffy, Cordelia is the big time Slayer (hell yeah, Charisma Carpenter!).

Slayers: A Buffyverse Story will be streaming on Audible Oct. 12.
