Arena full of Canadian hockey fans sang 'The Star-Spangled Banner' after singer's mic failed

Canadians just keep on proving why they're the nicest, most welcoming people on the planet.

18,000 Canadian hockey fans joined together to belt out the U.S. national anthem this weekend as the Edmonton Oilers faced the Anaheim Ducks in the second-round playoff game when the singer's microphone failed.

Canadian country singer Brett Kissel was expected to sing the anthem at Rogers Place that night. Although his voice was coming through fine on TV, hockey fans present at the game couldn't hear a thing. That's when Kissel asked the crowd to take over, and they happily did with a big, loud, beautiful rendition of an anthem that wasn't even theirs.

Kissel then explained the incident by tweeting that "the best singers and fans are in #OilCOuntry!"

The sad part is, if this were to happen to someone singing the Canadian national anthem, would Americans be able to repay the favor? We must be better pals to our Canadian friends, so we'll get started on learning those lyrics.
