This college-bound teen's mom made him a cardboard cutout of the family dog

What a striking resemblance.

Yeah, sure, we'll miss our families and stuff, but the worst part of leaving for college is bidding farewell to the family dog.

Luckily, Jake Ostrowski doesn't have to. He's taking his family's golden retriever, Jesse, with him to Texas Tech this fall -- in cardboard cutout form.

Jake's mom commissioned the cardboard pooch. She came up with the idea when Jake said he'd miss Jesse in the fall.

The only downside? Less fluff. But the resemblance is indeed uncanny. Jake told Mashable that Jesse was at first "a little confused" by the cutout.

At the time of writing, Jake's tweet had been retweeted over 4,800 times, which means we'll probably be seeing a lot of copycat (copydog?) cutouts in the future.

Cool with us.
