Carrie Brownstein's best-selling memoir, Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl, will form the basis of a new series for Hulu.

Confirmed to Mashable as in development, and first reported by Deadline, Hulu has ordered a pilot episode of Search and Destroy. It's a new project from Portlandia co-creator, Sleater-Kinney guitarist and Peabody Award winner Brownstein, along with Annapurna Television.

According to the publisher, Search and Destroy will be written, directed and executive produced by Brownstein, and will somewhat draw from her 2015 memoir Hunger Makes Me A Modern Girl.

A New York Times Notable Book, Brownstein's book details her childhood growing up in the Pacific Northwest, then moves into the burgeoning underground feminist punk-rock movement of the '90s, to Brownstein's experience with Sleater-Kinney, whom legendary music critic Greil Marcus would call "America’s best rock band."

Annapurna’s Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle, and Ali Krug will also executive produce the pilot, says Deadline — plenty of strong talent behind the scenes.

Brownstein and Portlandia co-creator Fred Armisen will launch the eighth and final season of their comedy show on Jan. 18 on IFC. Then, we're just going to impatiently sit on our hands until Search and Destroy drops.
